~This is a gray herringbone wool fabric stocking. The backing wool fabric is the same as the front.
~A red plaid wool fabric cardinal (bird) sitting in the pine tree.
~The tall pine tree is made from green tartan wool fabric, and the smaller pine tree is green wool fabric.
~The bird and pine trees are hand cut and hand sewn onto the stocking using embroidery floss.
~Ivory embroidery floss is used to hand-stitch snowflakes around the trees.
~The stocking is lined with muslin fabric.
~The cuff is made with cotton batting, which is tea-dyed by hand.
~A heavy jute twine loop makes it ready to hang.
~Fusible interfacing is added to the body of the stocking to give it durability.
~This is a large stocking.
~The stocking is handmade by me, in the north woods of Maine.
Finished stocking dimensions:
~ 22″ long from upper right corner of stocking to toe (56 cm)
~ 8 1/2″ wide below the cuff (21.5 cm)
~ 11 1/2″ wide from toe to heel (29 cm)
